Bandits Nab Gilray, MacKay With First Two Entry Draft Picks

Ahead of the National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) 33rd season, the 2018-19 Entry Draft took place on Tuesday at Xfinity Live in Philadelphia. The Buffalo Bandits, who are set to face off against Toronto in the opener on Dec. 1 at KeyBank Center, had the third and fourth selections in the draft, taking Bucknell grad Matt Gilray and University of Vermont’s Ian MacKay.

“We feel very fortunate to be able to add two impact players at the beginning of this draft,” said Bandits General Manager Steve Dietrich. “We feel that adding both of them to an already established young hungry group can only lead to good things for Banditland this season.”

The Bandits traded away all but one of their other selections, taking Devlin Shanahan of Mimico in the Ontario Jr. A league, nephew of longtime NHL star Brendan Shanahan, with their fourth round selection (43rd overall).
