About Buffalo Sports
People tend to forget about Buffalo. It may not be located right on the coast with a view of the Atlantic Ocean, but it is far from a small town in western New York State. The city plays home to the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres. Not bad for a city of about 300,000.
The Bills have been one of the most underrated franchises in history. They are best remembered for losing four Super Bowls in a row. The weird thing is that they are remembered as a joke for losing those four games. That fact is maddening. Most fans would love to say that their team made it to four Super Bowls. That Bills team, with Thurman Thomas, Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, and a dominating defense, is not given the respect they deserve.
The team brought a high powered offense each season to Ralph Wilson Stadium that few defenses could contain. The no huddle offense was more than just a last drive option for this team. Fans bought Bills tickets to watch Jim Kelly to orchestrate overwhelming drives that spurned defenses that called the wrong personnel onto the field. The Bills simply ran into the middle of a Cowboys' dynasty that few teams could hope to beat. The Bills have been trying to recover from the traumatic experience and are on there way to building a new prolific offense with players like Trent Edwards, Marshawn Lynch, and Lee Evans.
Buffalo is a true cold weather city, so while it may not have a baseball team or a basketball team, it does have a hockey team to split the professional sports season with the Bills. The Buffalo Sabres have always been a natural fit for the city. Its many hockey fans flock to HSBC Arena each season with their Sabres tickets to watch the team as it competes in the ridiculously competitive Northeast division.
The Sabres almost seem to be taking punishment for playing in such a highly contentious division, the same kind of punishment that Bills fans have taken for playing four straight losing Super Bowls. The sports fans remain loyal and can always catch a Rochester Amerks game if they cannot get into to see the ore than just NFL or NHL action.
